Described by its makers as a 2¼D cover-based shooter, the merest whiff of the plot of this pixelated wonder should get you in the right mindset for its brand of barminess.
It stars Steve, who’s tasked with clearing up a city full of crims with bullet-based violent vigilante justice in the name of BunnyLord, a mayoral candidate who has travelled from the future to bestow this task and who is also a bunny. Yep. A bunnylord “It’s basically a balls-out riot of a game,” says Simon Bennett, director of Roll7, also responsible for OlliOlli 2 on the other side of this very page.
The London based dev is crafting a roster of non-heroes which Steve will be able to recruit on his ventures, as well as a variety of weapons to redecorate the retrofied walls with. Naturally there’s a shotgun to cause the requisite carnage, but there’ll also be the option to go in close with a katana
or even your bare fists.
“The game was originally called Jeffrey Archer and you fired arrows at baddies,” reveals Bennett when we ask how the idea for the game came to fruition. “It turned out it was more fun when we switched these to guns. We pitched making it to Devolver Digital (Hotline Miami, Broforce) and the rest, as they say, is a hazy drunken mess at various games conferences around the world.” Looks like we’ll all be hopping mad upon its release in spring.
